BLACKHOLE_edited.jpg

Black Hole in the Galaxy

Get your air guitar chops polished up and play along with this modern rock anthem that sets our gaze out into the galaxy. ‘Black Hole in the Galaxy’ is a  welcome ‘space changer’ to put on when some cobwebs need sweeping out of the emotional atmosphere and a bit of physical get up and go is needed. Great to provide that last push out the door in the morning and move a reluctant little one on to have some fun at school or kindy.

Calling all young petrol heads…it’s time to rev your motors! ‘Grease Gun Gary’ is greasy rock’n’roll set in the garage of your local mechanic. Twanging electric guitar and thumping drums blare from the radio as the slick team at Greasy Gun Gary’s auto repair will have you honking back down the highway, good as new.

Plant A Tree

‘Plant A Tree’ is possibly the most ‘educational’ of the new beetBITE collection, and definitely the most grounded. It introduces children to the names of native New Zealand trees, and encourages us all to grab a spade and get digging.

Centipede Counting Song

[Click the image to play!]

‘Centipede Counting Song’ is a rollicking, banjo-pickin’ foot stomper of a song.
How many billions of people are there in the world? And how many trillions of beetles? Even a centipede with an abacus would have problems counting all of those.
Featuring lots of numbers, trumpet by Steve Roche and even a braying donkey.

Our Story

beetBITE is back!

beetBITE is a fun kids musical venture by fleaBITE & Levity Beet from New Zealand. Their fab new collaboration features 11 great songs to surprise and excite young ears, and follows the duo’s earlier EPs beetBITE 1 & 2.

Levity Beet & fleaBITE (aka Robin Nathan) explore a wide variety of musical styles with their trademark quirky humour and flair.

Creativity in Collaboration

beetBITE is the product of two highly creative brains (a father and an auntie) having a load of fun. They take inspiration from a wide range of musical genres from lullabies, thrash rock, hillbilly and mariachi bands to Punjabi folk music, ambient dance and Django Reinhardt.

Award Winning

Between them, Levity Beet and fleaBITE have taken the top spot at the New Zealand Children’s Music Awards nine times (best children’s album, artist, song and video).

Distance is no Barrier

Levity lives in Takaka and Robin is Auckland-based. Over a few months they traded ideas back and forth, challenging and complementing each other’s musical and lyrical ideas, and often going in completely unexpected directions.

Acknowledgements

The beetBITE project is supported by NZ on Air through their ‘New Kids’ Project’ funding which encourages experienced children’s artists to produce more ambitious projects.
